I’ve laid out some very basic principles of my 3 part approach to holistic money-making.

My 3 “m”s are Method, Mind-Body Story, Money Management.

In this next few of articles, I’ll get going into more depth on each of the three areas.

Today, I’ll be talking to you more about Method. Do you already have a method to make money?

Then read on, what I have to say may surprise you. Are you just starting out and don’t have the “method” piece down yet? Even better, because you won’t have any preconceived ideas about what you “should” be doing to make money.

There are unopened gifts in your closet.

I can remember when I was first starting out as an entrepreneur. I was willing to do almost anything that looked like it would make money. My first attempt involved buying into an online bookstore where people would pay using click-bank. I never got anyone to buy a pdf book and later abandoned the bookstore.

The reason why it didn’t work was that it just wasn’t me, it wasn’t a legitimate expression of who I am.

As entrepreneurs, we have a duty and an obligation to express into the world what we really are, what our truest gifts are. When we approach our “method” of money-making in that way, being an entrepreneur really puts us on a solid , spiritual path of wealth.

Think of Mother Teresa as an example of this. Wouldn’t we say she was living out her true calling? Yet, she commanded tremendous wealth, which is something not generally know about her. It wasn’t her personal wealth, but she could move tremendous resources around if she chose to. People offered her money, airplane, palaces, all sorts of things—all as a result of her being in her highest purpose.

I believe we come into this life with many gifts. Think of those gifts as lovely wrapped packages that are sitting your closet . When the time comes, we go into this closet and open one of our gifts. For example, I never new I had a gift as a masseur until about 7 years ago when I took a Swedish Massage course at the local massage school and starting giving massages as a volunteer to homeless men with HIV. The guys would line up to book with me because as one man told me, “Donny, you’re doing more than just giving a massage. Your massage feels like a spiritual experience.”

But you are no different! You also have unopened gifts sitting in your spiritual closet.

How do I know what my unopened gifts are?

It’s very likely you already know what they are. Spirit is trying to tell you what some of your unopened gifts are right now–even as you read this article. Most likely, when the gift reveals itself, it may seem silly or ridiculous. Always, however, when the gift is revealed, it will move your heart. It probably will make you cry because it is so grand and so amazing that you can hardly stand it.

Yet, when we have these moments of enlightenment, we tend to ignore then and say something like, “Oh, that can’t be for me,” or “I couldn’t possibly do that,” or “I’m not deserving enough.”

The funny thing is that if it’s not for you, then Spirit would not have revealed it to you. It never would not have occurred to you. Only things that are truly part of who you are will come into your perception.

So here’s the exercise I’ll leave you with for today:

Just notice in your quiet moments what comes to your mind and heart. Quiet moments can be as simple as when you’re waking up in the morning or going to sleep at night. It can be while you’re driving down the freeway or even just staring at TV in the evening. What is moving your heart right now in a big way? What brings you to joy or even tears? Whatever those things are will be the keys to your true abundance. For now, don’t ask “how” or “why.” Just remain in the knowing of what your heart is being called to be and/or do.

Until we meet again.

So you’ve got the first “M”, Method, of your holistic money-generation plan worked out.

You have also done sufficient healing in the second “M” ,Mind/Body Story, so that what you

are putting out in your marketing and sales conversations is congruent.

What’s left?

The 3rd and last step is Money Management. Whereas beginners tend to focus on Step 1, Method; and Intermediates tend to focus on Step 2, Mind-Body Story; advanced practioners will put their efforts mainly on Step 3.

By the way, if you haven’t read Part 1 and Part 2 of that series, I would recommend it. You’ll get more out this. Here is the link:

Why Do We Bother?

Now before I go on, I should mention that in this series of articles I’ve been talking about making money in general. But to what end do we go to the bother of making money? I would suggest that our ultimate goal is financial freedom

What is financial freedom? Let me propose a definition for you. To do that, however, I’ll first describe what financial freedom is NOT. This will surprise you. Read on….

Even with 20 Million, They Weren’t Financially Free!

My lawyer once told me about two of her clients, a married couple. They were worth 20 million dollars. Yet, they worried they didn’t have enough money. Even though they had more money than you and I might ever have in our lives, they worried about lack. Despite the couple’s great wealth, they were not financially free.

A while back, I read an article where are survey was given to “rich” people asking them what they thought about money. One man, an internet wiz-kid already worth tens of millions said, “If I just could have one hundred million in the bank, I would feel financially secure.” This man was also not financially free.

I dare say, in the case of both the couple and the wiz-kid, that even if they had their ideal monetary figure in the bank, they still would not be financially free. The couple would probably still worry about not having enough. Likewise, the wiz-kid would most likely wish he had yet another 100 million in the bank.

Now I’ll give you the first notion of what I mean by “money management.” The people I’ve mentioned above we’re not financially free because they had not exercised CONSCIOUS management of their money.

Conscious management does not necessarily mean hiring a money manager, investing in the stock market, or going on a “money diet” and restricting yourself in ridiculous ways. To be clear, I’m not saying that a money manager investsments or savings do not have a place in your management plan, but you need to take a more basic step first.

Raise Your Money Consciousness: Your First Step

When I started working on my weight and diet years ago, the doctor I was working with had me write down EVERYTHING I ate during the week. I can’t tell you how illuminating it was to discover what I was really eating and how little thought I was putting into my food intake. Having done that work, I was able to make some big changes in my diet and lose weight—not through deprivation or starving, but through being more intelligent and strategic about my eating.

Managing your money and managing your food are quite similar, actually. There’s no hope for change in either area until you chose to take a close look at your present food/money habits.

Yes, you may have guessed what your first assignment is. That’s right! You get to write down everything you spend money on. Do it over a week’s time. Include everything. That means the Starbuck’s coffee you had in the morning, the protein drink you picked up in the gym, the new doodad you ordered online last night. Everything. Most importantly, do not do this exercise with any self-judgement. Just observe.

What will you have when you finish this exercise?

You will have a baseline for where your money consciousness is right now. Look at it this way. If you want to drive to Los Angeles, you must know where you’re starting from. Otherwise, how would you know what freeway to take to arrive at your destination? This is the essence Money Management, the 3rd step of holistic money making. Unless you know where you’re starting from, you won’t be able to see how to get to your goal: financial freedom.

How does all that feel in your body and where do you feel it?

Keep tuned in: I have a ton more to share with you.

Peace, Happiness, and big fat paychecks.

Part 2: Mind-Body Story

By Donny Lobree, The Money Master

Part I.

http://themissingthread.com/blog/113/

Money-making is not hard. As a matter of fact, it’s not any harder than

riding a bicycle. You may remember when you learned to ride a bicycle it seemed

a bit hard at the beginning, but once you got your balance, you never had to think about it again.

Why is bicycle riding and money making similar? Both have to do with consciousness. The reason you can ride a bike is because you became conscious of balance. Similarly, the reason you can make money now is because you are conscious of money.

Money is a consciousness. Yes, I know, money looks as though it’s a physical objective thing– the green stuff we see every day or the number attached to your bank account. But those things are only a physical representation of your level of money consciousness. The truth is, as you probably already know, there is nothing backing up the green stuff. It really does represents nothing, that is, NO THING! . Up to 1969 we could at least say the dollar bill

was backed by gold, but that is no longer the case. All we have is a polite agreement among ourselves that money is worth something.

So back to my original point: money is a consciousness. In order to access money, you must access money consciousness.

How Do You Access Money Consciousness?

To access money consciousness, you have to know the answer to this question:

Where is consciousness located physically?

(Hint: it is NOT just between your ears)

Consciousness is located in your whole body! That’s right, consciousness is in your ears, your head, your fingers, your toes, your chest, your tummy, your legs..anywhere where there is a cell in your body.

Each and every cell of your body contains consciousness…and that includes money consciousness.

The ancients knew this. For example, that’s what the yoga poses or asana or all about. They are designed to awaken consciousness through your body.

Money is a consciousness, and that money consciousness is in every cell of your body.

So here is where people get messed up when they hear some money gurus talk about what is commonly called “mindset”. The term “mindset” is really a misnomer because it only tells part of the story and leaves out the most important part: the body. You cannot separate the mind and the body. If you’re just focusing on “the mind” then you’re really missing the boat.

Get Your Body Into It!

No matter how much positive thinking you do, no matter how many affirmations you say in the mirror, nothing will change unless your body is somehow involved.

So play this game with me to demonstrate the point:

Pretend you have a wonderful package of services: coaching and/or products that is well-worth

the $20,000 you’re going to charge for it. Never mind what is in it for now. Just focus on the fact that you’re going to ask for and charge a client $20,000 (and if you’ve already done this in your business, then change the figure to what you haven’t done. Make it a $100,000; $500,000; or $1,000,000 package!)

Now stand in front of a mirror and say, “That will be $20,000 please. May I have your credit card number?”

What do you feel in your body as you do that? Where do you feel it?

You have just identified the location and existence of a BODY STORY.

We have so many Body Stories around money.

Recently, I helped a client with a video for his service and when it was time on the video to ask for the business, he just started stuttering. Most of my life I have refused to return items to the store even if they still had the shrink wrap and I had the receipt. Only recently I realized this was because I didn’t want to ask for the money back.

Method and Mind-Body Story Are Related

Here’s where the first “M” of Money Making, Method, plays into the 2nd “M,” Mind body story. If you chock up when you ask for money, then that energy will be behind the sales letters you write, the emails you send, the ezine article you publish and the offers you make onstage.

If you have that niggling feeling in your gut that somehow you’re asking for too much, that it’s not worth it, that you don’t deserve this much money, that the people in Africa are starving….then that is exactly what you’re going to express irregardless of your cool ezine template, irregardless of your pro copy that you paid a lot of money for someone else to write, irregardless of your branding or logo. You’ll end up receiving back what you put out: a mixed message at best.

How do you change the body story? You find the original “contract” you made with yourself, you break that contract and then you replace that body story with a new experience. With the proper guidance and motivation, this can be accomplished fairly quickly. Kirk and I do this all the time with clients.

There is One More Step

There are those who are bringing in all kind of cash, but are spending it just as fast or faster. The 3rd part of this Money Making and Keeping puzzle is Management. And I don’t mean just investing in IRAs , going on “money diets” or hiring a money manager. It’s more sophisticated than that. Stick around for next week’s article to find out more.

In the meantime,

Peace, health, and big fat paychecks.

Welcome!

I’m about fed up with all this houhaa I see out there constantly from
online gurus wanting you to buy something that will make you money.   True, they give you a piece of the money making puzzle, but not all of it.

After spending over $150,000 on money mentors; after making and losing over $1,000,000, I’m good and ready to tell the truth about money making AND money keeping.

Read on to find out what I know.

The Three “M’s” of Making and Keeping Money

by MoneyMaster Donny Lobree

I was just rummaging through my emails today and reading the latest offerings from the
money gurus I follow.  The messages all generally follow the same pattern: “Push this button”
or “write this copy” or “use this kind of opt-in box”  and you’ll make a lot of money.  I especially enjoy the ones that say, “I’ll show you exactly how I made a million bucks.”

What they fail to tell you is that only a very tiny percentage of people will be successful with the stuff they are touting.  What’s more, that tiny percentage would have probably made the money anyway, even without the guru’s “black box.”1

Most people will probably fail in making money if they just use the stuff that is typically sold by money gurus.  Why?  It’s not because the information was necessarily bad or that the people who buy it aren’t smart enough to implement it. It is because  what’s being offered out there does not deliver a complete picture of money making.  In all fairness to the many wonderful money gurus out there, most of them do in fact give you a piece of the money-making puzzle, but I’ve never seen a guru that gave you all of pieces.

In this series of 3 articles, I will give you an complete overview of how to make money.
I dare say, this is stuff NO ONE is talking about or teaching.

So let’s dive in.

In order to make AND KEEP money, there are three areas to be addressed.  I call them “The Three ‘M’s’ of Making and Keeping Money:”

The 3 “M’s” are:

1.  Method

2.  Mind-Body

3.  Management

Although each area is important, the area you will tend to focus on relates to how far along you are in your money-making career.  For example, beginners tend to focus on method.  Intermediates will be more interested in mind-body.  Advanced practitioners will focus almost entirely  on management.   But more on that later….

Let’s talk about Method now.

The first thing to understand is that money is a spiritual energy that is all around us.  Think of money as water and then think of yourself living in Hawaii where it rains a lot.
Rain is falling frequently all around you.  THere is more than enough for everyone.  There’s just one problem, however.  You have to catch that rain in order to make it useful to you.  Otherwise, the rain will fall down and disappear into the ground.   That’s why people in rural Hawaii build catchments or huge tanks next their house that will catch the rain so they can use it. They have a system whereby the rain falling on their roofs goes down the gutter into big storage tanks.

Picture of Catchment catching rain from a roof

Catchment

Now think of the first “M” of money making, Method, as a rain catchment.  You are building a way to catch the money that is available to you now.

Your catchment is, of course, your business.

So this may seem obvious to you, but a lot of people, especially people new to being an entrepreneur, get messed up at this point.  People think, “if only I had a better business (catchment).  Maybe I need branding, or maybe I need a logo or that cool ezine design.”

People don’t realize that building your basic business  is a simple process.  All you need is a product or service,  a couple of people to call and a way to accept payment.  That’s it!  Check off the “method” portion of your money making picture and let’s move on.

Of course, over time, your catchment will develop and become more sophisticated.  You will expand it so it can catch even more money. (Hint: things like branding and logo come much later, you don’t need them at the beginning)

As I said earlier, beginners tend to focus on just the “method” part of the money puzzle.  They think, “If I just had the right “black box”1 I could make millions.  And there are marketers out there that realize this and cater to that belief by selling their latest money-making method.  Again, this isn’t to say what they’re selling isn’t any good, it just doesn’t address the whole picture of money making.

As you read this, take a moment to check in with yourself.  What do you feel in your body?

And where in your body do you feel it?

Having done that, you’ve just touched on the 2nd piece of the the money-making map, “Mind/Body”

More on that in part 2 of this series.

Wishing you happiness, peace and big fat pay checks.

1  A “black box” is a term used in stock trading to mean some system that works
mysteriously in picking winning trades and making money.  You don’t know how or why it works, it just does.
Of course, no such thing really exists, but the hope of finding one is what marketers are selling.

I still can’t believe it.   It kinda snuck up on me.  And yet it’s true.  I’m turning 50 this July.

When I look back at events that took place when I was, say, 25 or 30, it seems like they happened only a couple of years ago.   Then, when we go to our favorite restaurant and see the 25 year old waiter who waits on us often, I see that 25 years is enough for some one like this young man standing in front of me to grow up.  Shocking!

“Well,” I tell myself, “it’s time to sit down and take a breath.”

It’s been quite a ride, this past half-century,  and there is much more to muse about. And over the next few weeks,  I’ll want to tell you more about what this major life event is meaning for me as well as some other stuff I want to tell you about.

I’m reminded of my yogic studies and how they’re always leading you into “the moment of now” through the asana or postures.   I’ve come to think that a lifetime isn’t really a series of memories, good or bad, but rather a series of moments.  Perhaps the only difference one moment has from the other is the intention you bring to it.  I’m certainly not perfect at it, but I do try to bring as much joy to each moment as I can.  That to me is a spiritual practice.

I’ll write more later, but while I’m thinking about it, let

me invite you to my party:

More later,

Blessings,
